As a service provider, Saltigo employs a holistic project management approach to handle our customers’ projects in a swift and highly focused manner. Our structure is process-oriented and all customer projects are completed by project teams as part of the project management system we have tried and tested for many years.

Our project managers are highly experienced chemists and engineers, who oversee the entire product life cycle for the projects with the aid of their interdisciplinary teams of process developers, engineers, marketing officers, and purchasing and production specialists.

Saltigo’s project management system is based on a “four-phase model,” subdivided as follows:

During this phase, an interdisciplinary team of experts evaluates the potential for realization of the project, examines its feasibility in our network of 10 plants and draws up a quotation or tender.

During the development phase, the project manager is appointed along with the members of the team required for implementing the project. The goal of this phase is to develop the appropriate processes, particularly regarding the key aspects of quality and sustainability. We enter into intensive technical consultations with our customers to carefully adapt procedures for Saltigo’s in-house facilities. Our process engineers create sample products to evaluate and validate the process. In addition, we apply analytical methods and agree these with our customers. At the end of this phase, we present a binding quotation/tender to our customers.

Implementation commences with the customer’s acceptance of our quotation/tender. The production train for the initial run is then constructed, initial batches produced and delivered to schedule.

The initial runs performed by Saltigo are more than small-scale pilot processes and often run into hundreds of metric tons. This means that all aspects of occupational safety and environmental protection are already covered in detailed consultations between the engineers, process developers and production management team when the plant is first designed and constructed for the initial production phase.

In the interest of our customers, a considerable part of the process development work is devoted to all aspects of sustainable business practice, e.g. avoiding or minimizing the amount of wastewater and waste products, reducing specific energy consumption, evaluating alternative processes, and ensuring ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

A project enters the standard production phase as soon as the quality and productivity of the process have been properly ascertained. In no way does this phase indicate the project’s completion – the team now works continuously on improvements to the process. Typical approaches to achieving improvements include minimizing the project’s waste streams, improving recycling rates for solvents, and throughput improvements effected by process intensification.
